Technology & Expertise for Researchers
Sanford Research’s core facilities provide Sanford scientists with a wide range of expertise and state-of-the art technology for basic, translational, and clinical research.
Led by highly trained staff, these core facilities encourage cutting-edge research and techniques that advance the overall mission of Sanford Health.
Sanford Research’s core facilities are located at the Sanford Research Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Core Facilities
Animal Behavior Core
The Animal Behavior Core provides services to monitor the behavior and physical presentation of animals.
Behavioral Economics Core
The Behavioral Economics (BE) Core advises on behavioral economics, implementation sciences, and cost effectiveness analyses to translated research findings into clinical practice.
Biochemistry Core
The primary function of the Biochemistry Core is to enable investigators to successfully utilize the BioID method to screen for protein associations in live cells.
We also provide assistance with gel-based protein separation, western immunoblotting and gel/membrane imaging.
Biomedical Statistic Core
The purpose of the Biomedical Statistic Core (BSC) is to create a methodological and statistical infrastructure supporting clinical and translational research and education focused on the mechanisms related to the onset and maintenance of eating disorders and eating behaviors.
Data Exchange Core
The Data Exchange Core provides a resource-effective process for Sanford Health researchers and external collaborators to access electronic health records (EHR) data.
Flow Cytometry Core
The mission of the Flow Cytometry (FCM) Core is to assist all the investigators in the Sanford community and their regional collaborators in performing cutting-edge flow cytometry and cell sorting.
Functional Genomics & Bioinformatics Core
The mission of the Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics Core is to provide infrastructure, expertise and support in molecular biology applications for COBRE project leaders and other Sanford Research researchers.
Histology & Imaging Core
The primary role of the Histology and Imaging Core (HIC) is to provide histology and light microscopy support to the laboratories of Sanford Research. The goal of the histology services section of the core is to provide expertise in histological staining. The goal of the Imaging services portion of the HIC is to provide light, fluorescence and confocal microscopy to visual both living and fixed cells.
Human Subjects Core
The Human Subjects Core (HSC) is a resource for CoBRE Project Directors and other researchers conducting research with human subjects.
Research Assessment Services Core
The Research Assessment Services Core (RASC) provides a wide range of scientific measurement methodologies for the study of eating behavior, eating disorders and related mechanistic constructs, which can be utilized by Project Directors and other collaborating scientists and trainees in their proposed projects.
Research Design & Biostatistics Core
The mission of the Research Design & Biostatistics Core is to provide assistance with research projects including planning and designing research studies, data collection and management, data analysis, and interpretation and presentation of results.
