My school doesn’t let out until after the program’s start date. Can I still apply?
Yes, you can still apply. Please make note of your circumstances on your application in the accommodations section.
I graduate this spring. Can I still apply?
We only accept current undergraduates.
Can I apply if I missed the deadline?
Unfortunately, we do not accept any applications after the deadline.
Should I wait until my letters of recommendation are on file before submitting my application?
You do not need to wait to submit your application. Your letters of recommendation will be added to your application once they’re submitted.
How does the selection process work?
The selection committee will invite the top candidates for virtual interviews. They will make acceptance decisions following the interviews.
Can I participate in SPUR and also attend summer school or have a job?
You will be required to work 40 hours per week over 10 weeks. Students are expected to work during normal business hours. It is up to you if you want to take on additional activities outside of those and any additional expectations set by your mentor.
Do I have to live in the provided housing?
You do not have to live in provided housing. Please note that you will not receive any additional funds for not using housing accommodations.
What is parking like on campus?
There is space on campus for parking. If you’re bringing a car, you must provide campus security with your vehicle information.
When can I move into the provided housing?
You can move in the weekend before your start date.
What is the dress code?
Legs must be completely covered with long pants or a skirt that extends to the ankles. Leggings must be designed to be worn as pants (no tights or nylons). Shoes must completely cover the top and sides of the feet. For the summer research symposium dress in professional dress attire.
Is a shuttle provided from housing to the Sanford Research Center?
Yes, we provide a shuttle for students that do not have their own vehicle.
