How many students are accepted each summer?
We accept four students to the internship program each year.
Should I wait until my letters of recommendation are on file before submitting my application?
No, the letters will be added to your application once they are submitted. You do not need to wait to submit your application.
Can I participate in this program and also attend summer school or maintain another job?
You will be required to work a minimum of 35 hours per week during the 10-week program. Hours vary between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week and will be established with your mentor.
What is the dress code?
We require your legs to be completely covered with long pants or a skirt that extends to the ankle. Leggings must be designed to be worn as pants (no tights or nylons). Shoes must completely cover the top and sides of your feet. Professional dress attire is required for the Sanford Research Symposium.
Is housing provided?
Sanford Research does not provide room and board to high school scholars.
I’d like to apply, but I missed the deadline. Can I still apply?
Unfortunately, we do not accept any applications after the deadline.
How does the selection process work?
Candidates selected for an interview will need to attend the Scholars Bootcamp as part of the interview process which will also include an interview after the bootcamp. The selection committee will make acceptance decisions following the interviews.
