SANFORD PROMISE

About PROMISE

Since its development in 2011, the PROMISE program has engaged with over 30,000 students in classroom engagements and outreach events. As a direct connection to Sanford Health, one of the most extensive Rural Health Systems in the United States, the Sanford Research PROMISE Lab specializes in showing the importance of research in advancing medicine.

PROMISE offers programs targeting K-12 students, educators, and community members through science immersion and training in the PROMISE Community Lab at the Sanford Center in Sioux Falls and remotely.

The Sanford PROMISE program has a community lab, a classroom designed to immerse students in a laboratory environment that provides unique learning activities to various student and professional audiences. This Community Lab is located adjacent to the research laboratories with dedicated space, allowing for easy access to lab tours during classroom visits.

As part of our health literacy and science education support mission, the PROMISE team creates science lessons and tools to support science education throughout the community. The PROMISE website offers free resources for teachers to use in their classrooms including lesson plans, printables, and videos.
